Local singer songwriter and polymath Steve Myers had led a career as varied as a chameleon in a washing machine. He began life as an impersonator, comedian and singer/dancer, with roles in stage musicals including Charlie Girl, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rocky Horror and a long term stint at Sydney's Kaos comedy venue, before becoming an emergency doctor, lay preacher, children's story writer and father of four. These days it is his long suffering wife and four unfortunate children that are exposed mercilessly to his jokes, but he has continued to sing, performing as the front man for funk band Blue Zoo Groove, and with various partners in crime including guitarist Tim Begbie, as an acoustic act in pubs, clubs, churches, motel showers and public spaces around the country. In recent months he has been spotted in Gundaroo Colonial Inn as part of the entertaining duo "Baldy and Ginge" with Harold Blake. After rocking the Gundaroo Music festival in previous years with Blue Zoo Groove, Steve returns this year with some of the usual suspects to showcase his soft underbelly, with an acoustic set including his US number 3 love song "Only for You", the distinctly Australian "Where are the Butterflies Suzie", and a smorgasbord of original blues/gospel/folk surprises best served chilled with a glass of whatever takes your fancy. So come to the festival to be stirred, not shaken, by Steve Myers.
